Microchipping | HomeFront Veterinary
Implanted between the shoulder blades, the microchip can help you keep track of your pets, and keep them safe.
Microchipping is a simple procedure that often determines the likelihood of recovery if an animal is lost.
A microchip is a small chip (about the size of a grain of rice) that is implanted just under the skin between the shoulder blades. Once the chip is implanted, the scanned number associated with the chip will be registered to you and your pet. If you move, you just change your address with the microchip company. The microchips that we use are ISO compatible and suitable for international travel.
Most shelters, animal control facilities, and veterinary clinics have scanners that can read microchip numbers. If an animal is lost, the facility scans the chip, gets the number, and calls the microchip company to get the owner’s information. Voila! – You have your pet back!
Implantation of the chip is easy and safe….just a quick needle stick . Microchipping can be done during your pet’s wellness exam.
